Cemetery Manager Dennis Garman has undertaken a project to redraw the old plot maps of various sections of the Saint Vincent Cemetery. It is not an easy task as the Cemetery dates to the history of the Sportsman’s Hall Parish (1790), later to become Saint Vincent (1846). With the help of the Archabbey Communications Office, those maps are now available on this website.
Presently there are 25 sections of the Cemetery. This includes the Mausoleum, the Monks Section, and Sections A, B, C, Old D, New D, A Annex, B Annex, C Annex, D Annex, Section E, Section F, Section G, Section H and Section I. Then there is a Potter’s Section, and the recent Saint Benedict, Saint Scholastica, Placid A, B, C, D and Maurus Sections. That is a great many burials.
The Mausoleum Map was completed by the building’s architect.
Presently there are 22 other maps of 11 sections of the Cemetery now completed. Section C, Section New D, Section E, Section F, Section G, Section H, Section I, Saint Benedict, Saint Scholastica, Placid A and Placid B. Some, such as Section C, New D, Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica had to be completed in sections due to their size.
Work continues periodically when another section is completed. To view the maps, visit this link.
