Unit: 5th U.S. Infantry
Born in 1879, Ernest T. Hartshorn was a private in Casual Det. 5th Infantry of the army.
This unit had a service record going back to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, and was training to take part in this conflict as well. The unit had almost completed training when the armistice was signed. The unit went on to complete training in Georgia before being disbanded; however, this unit did not leave the United States during the Spanish-American War.
Following the war, he married Ella Shrum on August 27, 1905. Ernest T. Hartshorn died in 1948.
