William Harris was born in 1847. Towards the end of the Civil War, he joined the army and was placed in the 109th Pennsylvania Regiment, Company C.
Harris did not experience combat until May 15, 1864 when the regiment came under fire at Resaca. The regiment then took part in the Battle of Dallas and then the Battle of Peach Tree Creak on July 20, 1864. The regiment was then moved around without engaging in much combat until it was mustered out in Washington in 1865.
Following the war, he married Rachel Ann Powell and together they had seven children. William Harris died on November 25, 1905. He is buried in section A.
